WELKER, Neb.
— A snake farm owner in northern Nebraska says he’s in trouble because he’s caught one of the country’s deadliest snakes and is trying to get his animals back to the wild.
The Snake Farm Association says owner Brian Welker is being fined $150 for allowing one of his snakes to roam free.
Welker said the snake escaped from a containment tank at his snake farm on Saturday, after it was discovered it was not confined to a cage.
He’s been trying to find a home for it since then, he said.
The association said Welker must have missed the warning signs.
