The Alligatorsville-based Alligator Ranch said it reopened in January 2018 to serve as the state’s first new Alligator Farms since 1996.
It also opened its first retail location in 2019.
Alligator Farms was closed for the winter of 2019 and was shut down from November through March 2020.
The facility was also closed in February 2021 due to a fire.
The new store is located at 1620 N. Second Ave., Newark.
A portion of the building is being torn down to make way for the arena.
It will include an outdoor patio, a new front entrance, a food court, a children’s play area, a basketball court, an outdoor play area and a food truck.
The mall and the arena were purchased by the state in 2014 for $1.4 billion.
The state has spent millions on the arena and a new state-of-the-art building in Newark that houses the state-owned Alligator Reserve.
